I Once Stood by the Sea (Original Encaustic Artwork)

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse features a distinctive black and white spiral pattern, with a bright red base.  Set against a deep, swirling blue sky, it created a striking contrast. Waves crash around the base of the lighthouse, adding dynamic motion and texture to the scene. I love using bold colors.  Combined with the fluidity of the encaustic medium the contrast conveys the power and beauty of the seaside environment. The painting evokes a strong sense of place and atmosphere, capturing the relentless force of the ocean and the steadfast presence of the lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse stood by the sea until the shifting sands and encroaching waves along Atlantic seaboard threatened to overtake it.  It was moved in 1999.
